Connecting Communities

Social and community cohesion, historical legacy, and suicide prevention

We are so proud to be part of this project in collaboration with First Group, the leading rail operator in the United Kingdom, as well as RailTrack and National Rail, the rail authority for the Greater London area. Together, we facilitated conscious graffiti workshops for students from 12 schools, who created murals representing the historical legacy and their vision of the communities they live in.

These artworks were displayed at their local train stations, transforming them into urban art galleries where all commuters could admire how local students depicted the historical legacy of their community.

The project aimed for an even deeper, more significant impact: it harboured a profound hope—to provoke introspection and a moment of reflection for those who, due to circumstances, see suicide on the rail tracks as their only option. Shall a beautiful mural make even one person reconsider, it will have been worth it. In fact, railway suicides have prompted the most extensive redesign of UK train stations in years, and our participation was part of the broader initiative to prevent suicides by displaying beautiful works of art in and around the stations.

Through projects like Connecting-Communities, we demonstrate our commitment to youth and social cohesion through graffiti. This form of urban art has proven to be a powerful vehicle and source of inspiration and awareness, especially for young people.
