Graffiti workshop

Spray can over board

The PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) and the Tunmarsh centre requested this 8 week programme to engage 10
young
people who had a passion for graffiti with the objective of designing a series of boards to enclose the five aside
football pitch.

We organised a series of youth participation workshops to generate ideas and themes to be reproduced on the
boards surrounding the pitch. This was done through various ICT and sketching sessions, in which our workshop
team encouraged the young participants to research and look for ideas on the Internet and art magazines.

The next stage was the consultation process, where all the participants came together brainstorm and discuss all
the ideas generated for the final piece, selecting the best and prefered alternatives.

The final three weeks of the programme were utilised by the young people to prepare the display boards and then
reproduce their ideas and themes with spraycans, always under the supervision of our team of artists and coordinators.

The final outcome was a colourful set of boards with the original ideas from the young people involved to enhance
the football pitch area.
